My Girl

about

Wrote this one for my wife.

lyrics

My girl isn't really my girl, no she'll never really be. Cuz nobody gets to own the sun, and that's what my girl is to me.
My girl probably won't like this song, no, she likes a pretty melody and a singer that can carry a tune, much betterer than me.
My girl likes to read her books in bed. She's on her way back home right now. That could keep me smiling oh, for days. So what you think about that?
My girl lets me keep a scarf she once wore, in a not too creepy way. If a scarf could ever lead to a song, then surely this would be the one.
<Chorus>
I love to think of all the time times, that we've got laid before us. And it makes me smile, times, to think of all the silly shit she might say. I could wait here for months, years, guessing at the right move to make now, but there's nothing left to guess. Not with my Jess. There's nothing left to guess, not with me and my Jess.<repeat>
The third verse no one ever gets to hear, it's just for my girl and me. I'm only killing time singing this song, til my girl gets on home to me. I'm only killing time singing this song, til my girl comes on home to me. I'm only killing time singing this song, til my girl comes on home to me.

First turned on to the usefulness of piano lessons with the gift of a Doors songbook in 7th grade, he's since tried to get his hands dirty with as many instruments and facets of songmaking as possible. ... more
